Hello and welcome to my blog!
My name is Veronique and I am a French citizen living in the beautiful State of Virginia! I moved here in 2016 and successfully applied for a permanent resident permit.
And yes, this is a picture of me, showing off my first funnel cake ever.
I decided to start this blog to share what it is like to go from living an hectic life in Paris, France to a quiet life in a rural place.
So I came to the USA about 2 years ago and never left.
What started as a much needed breath of air turned out to be a life-changing experience, as I went through the process of getting a permanent Resident permit.
So why did I leave my home country in the first place, you might ask? Well to be honest I really needed a life change.
I was stuck in a job that was not fulfilling and hasn’t been for quite some time. My mother has just passed away after a 5-year long battle with cancer. I didn’t see any improvement in my personal and professional life coming any time soon unless I did something about it. So I finally did what I have been telling a few friends to do, who were unhappy with some aspects in their life, and I decided to take a leap of faith and go on a one-year leave of absence. See what was out there, get some perspective and hopefully find whatever it was that would make me happy(ier).
So I booked a ticket to Atlanta, GA and ended up in Virginia, where my significant other lives, in a small place in the woods. Let me tell you, it’s quite a big change from living and working in the Paris area!
Of course, it was difficult leaving my family and friends, but we keep in touch (thank you modern technology!) and I do hope they now see that it was for the best.
The life here couldn’t be more different than what I was used for. And that’s the purpose of this blog, I guess, to let you in my journey from where I was to where I am now… Hopefully you will find this journey worth sharing with me!
